Winterlude Ottawa JazzFest

Had a great time playing at the Ottawa Winterlude JazzFest this year-

Flux (w/ Dave Binney, Matt Mitchell & Kenny Wollesen) got some nice press from Peter Hum of the Ottawa Citizen with a preview and review of the show.
“a pure, bracing, thought provoking music…cliche-and convention-free”
“advanced and viscerally hard-hitting original music”

Also a blog interview with Artistic Director Petr Cancura.

Hey inter-web-space,

Just a quick note, a lot on the go.

I had a great time in Australia in June with trumpeter Peter Knight, premiering a new commissioned suite for his 5+2 Brass Ensemble, all stellar Australian players, at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival. It was a pleasure to be able to bring out NYC pianist Matt Mitchell for a short run of Forward Motion gigs as well. We played at the Valley Jazz Festival in Brisbane where we were then in residence for a week at the Queensland Conservatorium, in Brisbane- also quite a rewarding experience.
(Thanks to The Canada Council for the Arts and the SOCAN Foundation for making this possible.)

I was then off to France for a very nice concert with Bruno Tocanne‘s Collective New Dreams – a combination of collective’s from the south of France. A short video was shot about the concert.

Now back in muggy NYC and working on a commission for clarinetist Peter Stoll with the Cecilia string quartet.
