Hey inter-web-space,

Just a quick note, a lot on the go.

I had a great time in Australia in June with trumpeter Peter Knight, premiering a new commissioned suite for his 5+2 Brass Ensemble, all stellar Australian players, at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival. It was a pleasure to be able to bring out NYC pianist Matt Mitchell for a short run of Forward Motion gigs as well. We played at the Valley Jazz Festival in Brisbane where we were then in residence for a week at the Queensland Conservatorium, in Brisbane- also quite a rewarding experience.
(Thanks to The Canada Council for the Arts and the SOCAN Foundation for making this possible.)

I was then off to France for a very nice concert with Bruno Tocanne‘s Collective New Dreams – a combination of collective’s from the south of France. A short video was shot about the concert.

Now back in muggy NYC and working on a commission for clarinetist Peter Stoll with the Cecilia string quartet.

New look for www.quinsin.com

I am very excited to present the new look for www.quinsin.com

Innumerable thanks to Yesim Tosunar at Backyard Design for her art concept and graphic design and Joe Lagan for the backend setup and programming.

Some recent & upcoming creative and fun projects:
Had a great time performing a large-scale commission of mine with the Greg Runions bigband featuring trumpet ace Tim Hagans! Concerts in Kingston, ON and Toronto, ON were well received.

Members of the band also arranged three of my newer tunes from my imminent release FoMo:
music with more of a rock slant with Russ Johnson (trumpet), Adrean Farrugia (Fender Rhodes), Mark Kelso (drums) and myself (sax).

Watch for this new release early this Fall!

Off to France in October to play with great French drummer Bruno Tocanne‘s larger bass-less group, with a new piece premiered for this occasion too.

Then back to work in NYC on my Violin Concert for virtuoso Montrealer Nathalie Bonin.

Another fun longterm project to watch for:
May 2011 – a commission for Australian trumpeter Peter Knight’s 5+2 Brass Ensemble with the addition of myself on sax and clarinet.
